Overview [edit]
"Fallin' in Honey" was covered in 1995 by German language Eurodance duo La Bouche. Information technology was the third single of their debut album, Sweet Dreams (1995), and was released in June 1995, although the vocal did non proceeds popularity in the United States until the following yr post-obit the success of the first two singles, "Be My Lover" and "Sweet Dreams". Though it did well in several countries, it accomplished a minor success in comparison with previous releases. It reached number 4 in Finland and Hungary, and was a top xx hitting in Austria, Kingdom of belgium, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. On the Eurochart Hot 100, "Fallin' in Love" peaked at number 20 in September 1995.
This song has had remix versions. The anthology version is a midtempo pop-soul number that is faithful to the original Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds version with some boosted lyrics; even so, the version that was released belatedly in 1996 to Usa Peak 40 radio, was a dance remix.
Critical reception [edit]
John Bush from AllMusic described the song as "an R&B/house groover".[xiv] Larry Flick from Billboard wrote that the German duo "gives a 1975 pop hit by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds a springy pop/trip the light fantastic toe spin that will fit peak forty and crossover formats like a comfy glove. Front end woman Melanie Thornton has an appropriately flashy delivery that shines atop the track's shuffling rhythms, while partner Lane McCray'south rap interludes are pleasant—if not gratefully unobtrusive."[15] He also stated that Thornton is "adding glass-shattering drama to its oh-then-slick arrangement of bright synths and mesomorphic beats."[16] Dave Sholin from the Gavin Study noted that the two "brand this new version sparkle. Already bolstered by a substantial corporeality of airplay, this production has everything in identify to be striking number 3 for this twosome."[17] Pan-European magazine Music & Media commented, "Have a "mouthful" of sultry soul the old-fashioned fashion. The trounce and rap bridge are a sign of a modernistic production, while the intro to the Full Harmony Club Mix, a dialogue betwixt the Hamilton couple, is even more sexy."[18] A reviewer from Music Week rated the vocal four out of 5, adding, "Popular trip the light fantastic balladry from the cocky-styled Eurogroovers, whose hooky continental hit is also making its marking on the U.s. society nautical chart."[19] James Hamilton from the magazine's RM Dance Update wrote that Thornton's "outstanding soulfully joyful wailing Mariah Carey-ish vocal performance" makes it "potentially a UK number one nail too now".[twenty]
